NaviPlan Bulletin: Update on Vista issues in Windows-based formats
Summary
The purpose of this bulletin is to advise NaviPlan customers about issues that occur when the software is installed on a computer with Windows Vista, Microsoft's newest operating system. The issues apply to the current versions of Windows-based formats in Canada (version 8.3b) and the USA (version 9.0i).
Severity
Minor – the software is operational.
Impact Assessment & Recommendation
Validation testing with the Windows Vista operating system has been completed to address compatibility issues. The following issues were identified:
| Issue Summary | Issue Details | |
| Online Help issues | Limitations with the 16-bit Help file prevent About Help and How to Use Help from functioning. |
It is recommended that the 32-bit WinHlp32.exe be downloaded from Microsoft to use with Naviplan software. Visit the Microsoft website to download WinHlp32.exe |
| User interface issues | 1. The title bar icons do not properly appear on the Vista windows. They were removed and their functionality was moved into the properties (right-click) menu. 2. An open pop-up window may not be visible in the Vista taskbar thumbnails or Flip 3-D references. Reports/graphs are visible in both. |
1. Use F1 to obtain the context-sensitive help for windows that do not have a right-click menu. For windows that have a right-click menu on the title bar (i.e reports and graphs), all functionality that was accessed through the title bar icons can be accessed through that menu. 2. No workaround. |
These issues will be addressed in a patch release, which is planned for early-April 2007. All users will be notified via email. To update your email address in your profile, visit EISI user services: https://users.eisi.com/.
