EISI Expands NaviPlan Product Shelf
Offline Format Brings Modular Design and New Planning Options to Mass Market
Winnipeg, MB - July 7, 2004: Emerging Information Systems Inc. (EISI), developer of NaviPlan financial planning software, has expanded its retail product offering to include a browser-based format, called Offline. NaviPlan Standard USA and NaviPlan Extended USA are now available in the Offline format (version 9.0a), which offers a wide range of features that were previously only available in customized versions for large enterprises.
“Advisors told us that the ideal financial planning tool combines an easy-to-use design, data import capabilities, and a flexible format that lets them tailor the software to their planning needs,” says Dr. Linda Strachan, Vice President, Product Management at EISI. “The new Offline format of NaviPlan software meets those challenges and establishes a framework for future integration projects.”
The Offline format of NaviPlan software, version 9.0a, includes the following features:
Modular design
Planning features are packaged in a modular format that enables advisors to quickly select the features they want to use. The planning process is even more streamlined in NaviPlan Standard, where advisors can choose from three levels of analysis. From basic goal planning to in-depth estate planning and insurance analysis, each level presents a gradual increase in functionality.
Data import capabilities
The integration framework in NaviPlan Offline facilitates seamless data sharing with various sources, such as portfolio management software suppliers, data consolidators, data aggregators, and various back-office systems. All relevant fields in NaviPlan are automatically populated with imported data, which dramatically reduces manual data entry, resulting in greater productivity and fewer errors. Currently, NaviPlan
supports data imports from StatementOne™ and several clearing firms. EISI is working with additional firms to expand the list of sources for data import.
New optional features
The optional features in NaviPlan allow firms to tailor the software to their advice models and their clients’ needs. For asset allocation, firms can choose to either define default settings or use imbedded asset allocation components from Ibbotson Associates. Additional flexibility is available in platform selection. The offline format is compatible with the upcoming Application Service Provider (ASP) offering, so firms can start with the offline format and later subscribe to the hosted online service. In this scenario, advisors can work online or offline and the firm has access to important business resources, such as management reports, workflow controls, and collaboration tools.
Enhanced functionality
Version 9.0a of NaviPlan Standard and NaviPlan Extended, in both the Offline and Windows-based formats, include many new enhancements. Functional highlights of this release include planning features for non-traditional families (unmarried couples); new estate planning calculations and redesigned flowcharts; and a new Financial Needs Assessment report designed for client presentation.
“The new Offline format of NaviPlan strikes a balance between functionality and speed,” says Dr. Strachan. “We’ve added more planning features and dramatically reduced the time it takes to do a financial plan.”
