Winnipeg home to some of the smartest, most leading-edge tech companies

Working in the information technology sector has never been so attractive.

Winnipeg is home to a growing group of innovative technology companies that boast highly desirable work environments and are exerting a world-wide presence, writes Martin Cash, business writer for the Winnipeg Free Press.

Among these companies– which deliver a range of tools and services including visual effects for Hollywood films, specialized virtual reality education tools for niche industries, and IT consulting for companies around the globe –is Emerging Information Systems Inc. (EISI).

“EISI has developed the leading financial planning software tool in North America, and recently played the role of shark, buying up its largest competitor based in Southern California,” says Cash.

The company’s year-over-year success and laid-back corporate culture continues to attract Winnipeg’s top tech talent, which has enabled the company to build a young, thriving workforce.

“EISI's founder Dr. Mark Evans is a former math and computer science professor at the University of Manitoba,” explains Cash, “many of his former students are now among the company's 280 employees.”
