EISI focused on getting its software to do what the user wants

EISI, developer of NaviPlan and Profiles, is getting set to launch new versions of both product lines in the New Year. The Investment Advisor article Plug 'N Play takes a closer look at both applications and the direction in which EISI is guiding them.

Profiles promises to present only the most relevant input screens so that advisors can easily get in and out of the application. Writes Lauren Barack, author of Plug 'N Play: “…Version 8.0 will allow its clients to pick and choose between the modules they want to run—which kind of plan, for example, or the level of analysis they want to generate. Then, the program will ask only for the data needed for that report.”

Profiles is also being updated to present simple retirement scenarios. Comments Jim Hardeman, Director of Product Management on the Profiles side of things at EISI: “We wanted the output that the client is presenting to the end customer to be easy.”

NaviPlan is also getting a face-lift that will affect the speed with which advisors are able to work with the software. An upgrade to the current version will be available in just a few months, but EISI’s next major NaviPlan release, version 11.0, will introduce new behind-the-scenes technology that results in faster calculations and screen transitions.

As explained by Barack, development of NaviPlan version 11.0 is based on a usability study conducted by EISI of its NaviPlan users. The study has resulted in a design that presents advisors with key decision-making tools, but ultimately leaves the art of financial planning to the professional. Says Linda Strachan, VP Product Marketing at EISI: “…We suggest alternatives and it’s up to the advisor to implement them.” NaviPlan version 11.0 will be available later in 2007.
