NaviPlan tells it like it is
A Winnipeg-based firm is the driving force behind the financial planning software used by many of the largest financial planning companies in North America and more than 120,000 advisors.
EISI, developer of the NaviPlan and Profiles financial planning software lines, has designed its applications to help advisors tell investors what they need to hear.
Writes Gavin Adamson for The Globe & Mail in the article The Numbers Don't Lie: “Canadians who use the application to plan for retirement may be in for some surprises, apart from the fact that a company based in Manitoba dominates the market for professional financial planning software.”
EISI’s software collects fundamental data, such as the age at which the investor plans to retire and how long the investor expects to live; it sets a default inflation rate, and allows investors to assume variable rates of return on each investment; it recognizes reams of lifestyle expenses, liabilities, incomes, and assets to provide a cash-flow analysis.
Bottom line: EISI’s financial planning applications enable advisors to answer the tough questions for their clients, and to provide results that are as honest as the investor’s input.
Writes Adamson: “[EISI’s software] suggests dozens of ways to fix your woes, many of which you've probably heard before but never thought would apply to you: saving regularly, paying down debt before saving, making lump-sum payments on debts such as mortgages, funnelling occasional surplus cash into investments.
