NaviPlan's greatest virtue is in it's flexibility. The software allow's the user freedom to specify a large number of parameters in creating the financial plan. As an example, one is able to independently specify which assets are used for cash needs in a priority order or to specify asset expected returns for segmented periods such as pre and post-retirement. This gives the planner the capability to tailor the plan to the requirements and needs of each individual client.

As you may be aware I have spent the last month or so working with NaviPlan Extended. I don't know if I can put into words exactly just how impressed that I am with the software, but of course I will try.
I have been working with planning software for about 20 years now. I have developed different pieces from scratch, spec'ed out changes for existing software, and even years ago (1989ish) created and edited templates for a propriety planning software package for one of the largest Insurance companies in North America.
I have been waiting for the full Windows-based software that would provide a plan platform from A to Z - education to estate planning - in such a manner that I could, at my own desktop, create a unique look and feel. As I have explored and worked with NaviPlan Extended, I realize that my dream has come true.

As Joel Bruckenstein said in the May 2001 issue of Inside Information, we think, NaviPlan Extended is the "best of its breed." We produce highly customized comprehensive financial plans as well as other analyses for our financial planning clients, and have found that we can use NaviPlan for the vast majority of the cases and strategies we analyze. Income tax and estate tax planning are critical components of our practice. When a situation doesn't fit, the tech support people have often been able to provide us a 'workaround.' The ability to export graphs and table to MS Word is particularly valuable to us. It is a terrific what-if and scenario planning tool.

We began using NaviPlan in May of this year. For the past 12 years we
have used ExecPlan-II. However, over the past few years we found it
necessary to find a comprehensive financial planning software package that
is:
1. relatively easy to learn and use (user-friendly),
2. comprehensive (cash flow, tax, investment, estate planning), and
3. produces 'client friendly' reports directly from the program (quick and
accurate).
After much research and 'test driving' we selected NaviPlan. Since May, we
have generated over 20 comprehensive financial plans through NaviPlan.
It isn't very often I take the time to praise a product (particularly a
software program). However, in this case I am making an exception.
Generating financial plans from other software programs would typically take
us between 5-10 hours from start to finished plan. Generating plans with
NaviPlan takes between 1-3 hours (really!). Perhaps the greatest feature of
NaviPlan is the report/plan generating capabilities.
