Dr. Mark Evans
President and CEO, EISI
Dr. Mark Evans established Emerging Information Systems Inc. (EISI), a leading financial planning software developer, in 1990. As President and CEO, he guides the company’s strategic initiatives and oversees development of the NaviPlan and Profiles product lines.
Under Dr. Evans' leadership, EISI has grown from a small business to a market-leading software company with a client list that includes many of the most prestigious financial services institutions in Canada and the USA. With nearly 20 years at the helm, Dr. Evans continues to successfully manage growth in a very dynamic market. EISI’s acquisition of Financial Profiles in August 2006 solidified the company’s position as the dominant financial planning software vendor in North America. EISI is headquartered in Winnipeg, MB, Canada and maintains operations in Carlsbad, CA, USA.
From 1988 to 1999, Dr. Evans was an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manitoba. In addition to his work with EISI and the University, Dr. Evans has served as a consultant for numerous organizations such as KPMG, Unisys, and the Manitoba Provincial Government.
Dr. Evans received a Ph.D. in Computer Science specializing in Applied Artificial Intelligence from the University of Manitoba in 1988. His area of expertise includes expert and knowledge-based system tools and techniques, C/C++, object-oriented design and analysis, relational and object-oriented databases, and systems engineering. He has been involved in numerous software projects in areas such as financial planning, architecture, farm management, inventory control, and medical diagnostic systems.
Dr. Evans was awarded the 2003 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Information Technology category. In 2009, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Manitoba for his innovation and leadership in the area of computer science and for his accomplishments in Manitoba.
