Joel Themmen
Chief Development Officer
Joel Themmen joined EISI in January 1998 as a Senior Developer of the company's proprietary NaviPlan product line. In this role, he managed the Concept team, which was responsible for the development of all financial calculators in the product line. He then took on the role of Senior Architect, Platform Services, and headed-up the team that developed the foundation on which NaviPlan software operates and integrates with third-party data sources.
Joel's impact on the organization was most realized in 2007 with the release of NaviPlan Standard version 11.0, which is built on the company's next-generation architecture. A key player in the effort to increase the speed of the software; Joel was a leader in the development efforts. His team architected and developed the Web application framework that supports the dynamic functions in the software. Recognized for his contribution to this major milestone in technology development for EISI, Joel was promoted to Chief Development Officer.
In this capacity, Joel provides strategy, leadership, and insight to the engineering team. He is focused on extending the current capabilities of the software; introducing new technologies to enhance the product line, and working with other senior leaders to develop the core strengths of EISI's engineers.
Joel's career is diverse. Previously, he was a high school teacher, a lecturer at the University of Manitoba , and he owned and operated a software consulting firm in Winnipeg. Joel has achieved his B.Sc (Math), B.CSc (Honours), and B.Ed; he is a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) award winner, and he has completed the required course work for a Master's degree in Computer Science. He is also an avid basketball player, having both played and coached at junior high, senior high, community college, university, provincial, and semi-pro levels.
