Milestones

Founded in 1990, Emerging Information Systems Inc. (EISI) is a pioneer in developing productive software solutions for financial advisors and enterprises.

The following timeline indicates how EISI has earned its leadership position in financial planning technology.

2007

  • EISI releases first major Profiles upgrade since the acquisition. Profiles Professional version 8.0 has a brand new look, important new Retirement Distribution Planning functionality, and a host of new features to enhance productivity. Profiles Forecaster version 3.0 receives an overhaul, and offers improved ease-of-use for data entry and report creation.
  • NaviPlan Standard version 11.0 is a groundbreaking release that capitalizes on a usability study commissioned by EISI that analyzed how advisors are using the software. Built on EISI’s next-generation architecture, NaviPlan Standard v11.0 features a number of usability enhancements to give users faster results.

2006

  • EISI, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Emerging Information Systems (USA), Inc., acquires all the stock of Financial Profiles, Inc. and, assumes full control of Financial Profiles' operations and underlying technology, including the Profiles+™ product line, the Matrix integration/consolidation framework, and the Wealth Insight platform. EISI, as the parent company, now fully supports both the NaviPlan and Profiles+ product lines, and has operations in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Carlsbad, California.

2005

  • Research and development efforts focus on retirement distribution strategies to help advisors meet the financial planning needs of aging Baby Boomers. NaviPlan Standard (USA) version 10 receives rave reviews and establishes a framework for innovative and easy-to-use retirement distribution planning tools.
  • NaviPlan breaks away from historical references as complex planning software by introducing easy-to-use features in NaviPlan Standard (USA): innovative concepts, such as the Financial Assessment and a multi-level approach, dramatically increase usability and simplify planning.
  • New training and technical support programs provide enhanced services for NaviPlan users. New training courses are available in multiple learning formats. Technical support services are enhanced through NaviPlan User Services, a 24/7 self-service program.
  • EISI launches NaviPlan Central: a hosted service (Application Service Provider) that delivers NaviPlan software, a centralized database, important business resources, and compliance tools.

2004

  • Substantial product reinvestment enables EISI to lay the groundwork for an ASP solution, which is to be launched in Q1-2005, and make significant changes to the interface of its existing applications.
  • EISI launches browser-based versions of its software, called NaviPlan Offline, which have a new, easy-to-use interface that provides advisors with promotable planning levels.
  • EISI's staff count hits 240.

2003

  • EISI relocates corporate headquarters to a new, state-of-the-art office space (still in Winnipeg) to accommodate the company's steady growth.
  • Dr. Mark Evans is awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Information Technology category.
  • NaviPlan is highly publicized, and earns front-page coverage for its impact on the financial planning world in Financial Advisor magazine (July 2003).
  • Revenue increases more than 70% over the year prior.
  • More than 70,000 licensed users and over 40 major financial institutions are using NaviPlan
  • EISI’s staff count hits 220.

2002

  • EISI is the first financial planning software developer to deploy Browser-based planning with the ability to disconnect from the Internet/enterprise network and work offline (for financial planning in remote locations).
  • Revenue increases more than 50% over the year prior.
  • The staff exceeds 140.
  • The number of licensed users reaches 40,000.

2000

  • EISI becomes the first financial planning software developer to offer the industry a fully integrated, Browser-based enterprise financial planning solution.

1999

  • The number of employees increases to 40, and the number of licensed NaviPlan users jumps to 9,500.
  • Still situated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, EISI’s corporate headquarters moves to a larger location to accommodate growth.

1998

  • EISI rolls out the first large-scale deployments of NaviPlan to major corporate clients in the U.S.
  • The NaviPlan calculation engine is esteemed for its strength, and NaviPlan achieves differentiation among the competing financial planning software products on the market.

1996

  • TIMS evolves into NaviPlan Extended, which is launched along with NaviPlan Standard.
  • The new NaviPlan product line delivers a complete financial planning solution to the financial services industry.

1995

  • EISI’s first product, financial planning software marketed by the name TIMS, is deployed in the Canadian marketplace.
  • Corporate clients are signed, and a solid user base of 1,000 users is established.
  • Product credibility is achieved.

1990

  • Dr. Mark Evans founds EISI, and establishes the technical infrastructure for the financial planning software soon to be known as NaviPlan.
